About KPMG
In a global marketplace distinguished by remarkable growth and consolidation, companies face a host of new challenges. KPMG member firms help clients successfully respond to changing opportunities by providing professional services, wherever and whenever they're needed.

KPMG office was established in Slovakia in 1991. The firm operates through two main legal entities, KPMG Slovensko spol. s r. o. which incorporates our audit, financial advisory services and risk advisory services and KPMG Slovensko Advisory k. s. which incorporates tax services.

Since 1991, KPMG has grown substantially. Today, KPMG in Slovakia employs over 300 people and has 12 partners.

Our traditional business areas of Audit and Tax continue to grow strongly. In recent years our Financial Advisory Services businesses, fuelled by the growth in FDI, have also grown rapidly and our practice has advised and helped numerous foreign companies entering the Slovak market. We have been and are involved in numerous high profile assignments in all sectors.

KPMG has a strong market position in Slovakia in all sectors. We are very strong in the banking and insurance sector. We can differentiate ourselves in particular through our good mix of expatriates, many of whom have a long term presence in Slovakia, and Slovak employees. We number among our clients many leading international companies as well as small businesses. In general the client portfolio of KPMG in Slovakia reflects that of KPMG member firms, particularly in Western Europe.

Slovakia is situated in the heart of Europe with about 5.4 million inhabitants. The Slovak economic and political scene has changed rapidly since 1989 and foreign investment has increased significantly in recent years, capitalizing on the country's geographic location and the availability of a well educated but relatively inexpensive labor force. The privatization program, in telecoms, banking and now utilities has proceeded rapidly in this period. A number of significant reforms to the legal and regulatory environment have been made, in large part driven by Slovakia's EU accession. After a period of retrenchment the broader economy also now shows signs of growth although unemployment remains high. The prospects for future growth look good.
