In KPMG in Slovakia we understand our moral obligation to take an active part in issues which are part of society life as a whole and which have strong impact on the world around us. Our main issues concern environment, community life and also education of new generations of professionals.
We care about the world around us and, in compliance with our values, we always want to be among those leading by example.
Our CR activities focus mainly on following fields:
Education
KPMG in Slovakia invests substantial sources in students' education through Junior Achievement organization (JA) and also through cooperation with universities in Slovakia. For many years we have been supporting selected projects of JA, which provides special education for the best students in different fields. Our managers and partners have regular professional presentations at economic universities and faculties in Slovakia.
The cooperation with students' organization AIESEC is a commonplace for us.
Environment
KPMG in Slovakia is fully aware of responsibility of all of us for the environmental conditions and took an active approach to issues like global warming and drawing of resources. From the very first days of KPMG in Slovakia, we have been striving for an environmentally friendly approach in our activities. In 2007, we started a serious campaign to save sources, reduce waste etc. The campaign called "Green Way" was welcomed by our employees who, besides reducing paper consumption and separating waste, keep coming up with new ideas which are step by step implemented in our everyday life.

Philanthropy and volunteering
From its very first days in Slovakia, KPMG is connected with different philanthropy activities. Donation of 2% from tax is absolutely commonplace, the same as financial donations to chosen non-for-profit organizations. The firm supports employee volunteering for the benefit of community in which we live. In 2007 we helped to found the ENGAGE group in Slovakia. The companies united in this group are fully aware of their responsibility towards communities around us. In September 2007 we jointly organized the first annual volunteers' action day called "Nasa Bratislava" (go to www.nasabratislava.sk), where majority of the volunteers was from KPMG. They helped in various non-for-profit organizations and carried out a very good job. They also helped to gain new contacts important for further similar activities.
Pro-bono work is a common part of our responsible corporate citizen approach, engaging in numerous projects throughout the year.
